The Pentax in the thread title does not allow AF to pass through as you say but provides AF for normally MF lenes. This is achieved by having internal moving elements driven by the camera AF drive spigot.

i think it should be a question mark after that statement not an exclamation as it is quite possible these days that one firm makes them and they are badged by which company ordered them. it happens with lots of goods these days all made under one roof and badged as required so why not in photographic manufacturing.

Maybe you have opened a can of worms here I know there has been a lot of comparision work on various TC's recently - was there a specific Jessopd v Pen test:
