Guys

If you want to sell stuff and do it via PayPal is your personal information in particular your address withheld and if not have you the option to do so?

Ultimately your address is on the package, without which you won't be able to use tracked shipping. So the buyer will always know your address, which is not unreasonable.

You can't publicly pick up your address from PayPal and if it's only a payment being made then the only thing visible online is the e-mail address being paid to.

You will have to give personal information to Pay Pal to use the service, which also is not unreasonable. This is confidential though between you and PayPal.

I am giving someone my email address to pay via PayPal and then i am sending them prints with the address they have supplied. Surely my address doesn't appear in that exchange?

Well it doesn't have to if the value means that you don't need tracked or insured shipping.

On the other hand, if you are dealing commercially, even in a small way, then ask yourself would you deal with anyone who wants a payment but won't reveal their address? Suppliers who use accommodation addresses get quite a lot of suspicion in these and other forums.

What is your concern over providing your contact address?

Remember that PayPal would have a legal obligation to hand over your address with a court order. Additionally, you are deemed to be providing a commercial service if you are not selling second-hand goods and it would be a criminal offence not to supply an address where people can contact you on request.

It doesn't matter whether or not you are a registered business or limited. You are in business once you do this.

No your details are not given as part of the transaction, even if a paypal dispute is opened your personal details will still not be given to the buyer. You as a seller however will obviously have all their details to enable shipping.

If you have a business account then your details will be available to the buyer as this a legal requirement.

Not sure about the selling of new goods, I would have thought this would have come down to quantities rather than the speicic items being sold.
