Paths to ... ?

In another thread, I mentioned liking pictures of paths that don't seem to go anywhere. So here are a couple of recent ones from acceptable exercise/dog walks. Taken from locations about 50 yards apart but on different days (and lights...). Not everyone's cup of tea, but life would be boring if we all liked the same thing.

Any thoughts?

I like no. 1 as the path actually does lead you through the picture. Initially disappears over the hill, reappears by the bush in middle distance and skirts the trees to lead your view to the tower on the horizon.

No.1 is my preference - personally I would chop off the right third completely, removing the dark bush and branches and making the subtle coloured areas the main focus (just my opinion though!)

Now I like number two for it's minimalist approach.

Lenniebloke said, I would chop off the right third completely, removing the dark bush and branches

But then you would be left with the next in line dark bush and branches ???
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

No. 2 for me...simple and abstract feel I like.

So, votes for both! Excellent. As I said, like would be boring if we all liked the same thing.

Well spotted. You're right about the path continuing into the distance. Perhaps I should have lead you all up the garden path with a picture showing fragments of path that are actually from different paths. Something to work on...

That's fine, crop away, it's always interesting to see what different people can do with the same starting material. Your version changes the feel of the picture for me. More relaxing, the eye doesn't need to move far, it knows where to go. For me, the two versions are pictures for different days, different moods.

Keep the comments coming, folks. Civilised discussion with different points of view is one of the great joys of life.

Steve: I like the bushes on the right and find they help lead your eye along the path but find the tree in top right distracting. So my suggested crop is as follows, plus converted to b&w to give an alternative.
