Except those wanting full frame (sorry!) things are looking pretty rosy on the choice front now. I'm guessing the K3 is selling quite well judging by the number of K5 variants up for sale! Without being critical of any of the forerunners the following cameras all represent market leading features in their price range and can now be bought new or S/H to suit most people's pockets:- (Estimated, bodies only) e.g.)
K30 - £275 S/H
K5 - £325 S/H
K5ii - £460 S/H
K50 - £480 new
K5iis - £550 S/H
K5ii - £600 new
K5iis- £700 new
K3 - £999 new

That's 5 different cameras in a £400 price range then a £300 jump to the latest top of the range new. That's surely the best DSLR choice Pentax users have ever had.

Where do you get the K3 for £999.00? I thought it was still at £1099.00.
Has it started to reduce already?
CHEERS Vic.
Born again biker with lots of Pentax bits. Every day I wake up is a good day. I'm so old I don't even buy green bananas.

That takes into account the £100 minimum trade in, which gets added on to the value of what you trade in (even if it doesn't have any value at all!)

There is great value out there no matter which way you look at it.

I think each one of those cameras could also be generically summarised as having good IQ, good high ISO performance, good resolution and weather sealing. I doubt any other manufacturer could cover all 4 attributes new or secondhand from £275 upwards.

NOW. The big question is. If you can get £100.00 for something worth nothing then can you get your true trade in P/X PLUS the £100.00 for something else worth nothing? Or do you have to trade in something else to get the extra £100.00 ???????????????????????????
Does this include the DBG5?

Some have traded in broken cameras and got the £100, others traded in good cameras and got the trade-in value plus the £100.

Yes I checked this. You have to decide whether the vauable item trade in has been dropped to account for this or not. Always will be less than you can sell it on here or the Bay for though anyway, so I would just use my cheapest camera

My silver K-3 and grip combo was £1399. Subtract the £199 cost of a grip, £1200, then £125 off for trading in an old Pentax ME amounts to £1,075.

Just for once I can afford it, and that seems a fair price for one of the best Pentax cameras ever.

It looks really good in Silver...like the old days, so far I am mostly just admiring it and its soft smart brown leather strap.

Seems a shame to have to take photos with it...........

I have also just invested in a black K-3. Received the £100 trade-in for an old non-working Fuji compact, and a £100 for my old K-X with kit lens. My dealer were also giving a nice wide part leather white logo Pentax strap with every K-3, so all in all very pleased for an outlay of £899
