Diffraction...
So we all know what were talking about.

Now My understanding, which may or not be right, so A, I'm looking to gain knowledge from those here who know a lot more than I do, and B it could help others too, which is always good.
So lets try to keep it good natured and on topic
Firstly Diffraction is by and large Lens dependent, so I am assuming a decent prime or a very good zoom here, which is not out resolved by the sensor. Secondly, the light falling on the Sensor has no idea which sensor it is fallling on anyway, nor how densly packed with photosites it is, so please lets not go off at a tangent! Any good quality lens at a small aperture on a higher resolution sensor will always resolve at least as much real detail as a lower resolution one of the same size, Caveat, Contrary to common belief I have not tried every combination out there but have yet to find an instance of this not being true Canon 40D-50D/D7000-D7100, to name just a few I have owned before. More densly packed sensors will resolve more detail at the expense of more noise but with finer grain, which can at times be confused for more detail which in turn makes comparisons with older less dense sensors difficult. Now I am personally not finding any difference between my old K5IIs and my k3 regards diffraction which suprises me a little, nonetheless I'm going to stick my neck out and say that, if you find a good aperture to use on the K-5, use the same one on the K-3. Your picture will never be any less detailed as a result of diffraction. There I said it, now tell me how wrong I am and crucify me!
