(Blimey, I'd forgotten all about dubbin and those brown footballs that got all soggy and heavy in wet weather...)
And all of this segues nicely into the very reason I was drawn to this image in the first instance Andrew - I learnt to drive on a petrol/kero Nuffield tractor. For the uninitiated - they got started (with a crank-handle, of course) on petrol, and when they were heated up, you switched over to the kerosene tank. Power kerosene was cheaper, readily available (back then), and safer.

Talk about a different world...
