...after a long, tedious cloning job. Suggested by the Impotentspider, who was, of course, right. It is much better. (Don't look too closely at the rubbish in the extreme left...)

I do think it looks better but aren't convinced it was worth the effort but that's just mine view on it, luckily we aren't all the same

It's a great shot, as proved by all the variations looking good I slightly prefer the BW versions to the colour ones. Good cloning job on the twig (I agree it definitely needed to go!).

To be honest, I wasn't bothered about the blackberry twig at the time. I suppose, because I was there, it was part of the scene: nature taking over, reclaiming the old tractors... but, of course, as soon as the impotentspider drew my attention to it, that was all I could see and it had to go. The rubbish to the left always annoyed me but I couldn't hide it and there was too much to clone.

At the risk of labouring this thread (and I really don't want to do that), here's a simpler detail of the scene which was what I was after in the first place. Same body and lens. Toned using Curves in PS.

I like the general composition of your shot Andrew. All the versions have their merits for me. I also like this last close up you have posted.

There must be something psychologically wrong with me to be always wanting to photograph this sort of thing. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but really... Perhaps when the tulips and daffodils are out and spring lambs are frolicking in the fields...

(But I wouldn't bet on it! There'll be some steam engines rusting away somewhere!)

Don't forget the inkwells in desks and the ink monitor going round filling them up [a nd some naughty pupils had stuffed blotting paper in them ]

And boys sitting in the desk behind who would put your pigtails in the inkwells

Bet you don`t remember " sticky bomb bats " ??

Bits of ink filled blotting paper flicked with a ruler up to the ceiling to stick !!!!!
