Great backdrop you have there, you should have little trouble getting some fine shots.
What sort of fauna do you get there : Bears perhaps
The only time i see the river from my back door is when it floods

Mostly deer, and many, many different birds. The house is only 5min. from the center of Lancaster city, The county I live in is mostly farm land and light industrial so most of the wildlife is small, It's a great area for photography and there are many scenes that change with the seasons here.
Your lucky Clarky to be able to see the river when it floods. here when it floods the river surrounds the house. Our last flood came within 3.5 inches of the top of our deck which is 20 feet above the river. I keep worrying one of these days we will have the river inside the living room. It did happen about 25 years ago when a hurricane brought the river to 40 feet above flood stage. we were living out of the second floor and still had worries about the river getting that high. It was only one step 12 inches from going into the second floor. For the most part we get the basement filled and that's about it. (no big deal for us any more. We don't keep anything in the basement except the boats.)

Photography is a foot print for the future.
