Even if the camera appears to be OK it would be worth asking your insurers to cover the cost of having it checked out, especially as it won't have any additional effect on your excess etc. Better to find a fault at this stage than it go wonky 6 months time.

Good idea to get the camera checked, when I dropped my FA 50 onto Belgian cobbles you would not believe it had fallen, no sign of any damage - on the plastic or the mount - especially with the caps attached. But when I tried to attach it to the camera it wouldn't go on, turns out I had buggered the mount

Don't forget that insurance companies are not there to be kind and supportive, they are there to fulfill their obligations only. They are not going to be paying out to see if something you have is damaged so they can then pay you money to replace it...

If it's damaged, you make a claim. If not, there is no claim.

I think you will find that suggesting you're not sure if it's damaged is pretty much the same as no damage being discernable, so no claim.

Insurance have arranged collection of the lens to examine it. So progress any way

Update.

Insurance company have collected and checked the 16-45mm lens and said it is not worth repairing. Would I settle for a 17-70mm as a replacement!

So new lens is being delivered next week. Excess was £25

good result in the end, I have ordered a new strap which has quick release buckles so I will only have a strap on it when I am on walk abouts, gone for a shoulder strap this time.

That's a good swap

I wonder why they stopped making the 16-45mm it seemed to
sell well and was a decent lens?
