Optio s5i help

When I try to access the menu in shooting mode to change the type of picture (e.g. night vs. landscape) or shoot video, an orange lock appears on my LCD screen. I assume this means that the camera has somehow been locked. How do I unlock it? This feature is not mentioned anywhere in the manual and as far as I can tell pentax offers no true customer service via a help line or website. Someone please help!!!
