I purchased my optio s4 last week and it works fine....However after installing the USB drivers and acdsee from the provided cd I encounter
problems. Acdsee tries to display the thumbprint of the files from the camera but freezes the computer. I have uninstalled/reinstalled USB driver reinstalled windows all to no avail. I am runnong w98se on AMD duron 700 with 128 ram.....help please

Hi Jim

Now, I'm probably not going to be much help here, but I'll try. I own an S and decided not to bother with the CDs as this would mean having to power up my camera every time I wanted to download or even just look at my captured images on screen - draining the battery all this time!

I bought a 7in1 card reader for around £10 or you could buy a SD reader for that and less. Out the packet and installed in under 5 minutes!

Doen't help with your problem, I know, but it's an alternative.......

Jim,

There may have been a USB driver update for the S4:

There are probably ACDsee software upgrades too: http://www.acdsystems.com/English/index.htm

I agree with Robert... a card reader is much easier. You can have two memory cards - one in the camera, the other in the PC. It also helps if you are ever away since most Windows XP machines can just recognise a card reader without any extra software (This is what I do with the *istD)
