HI,
I have the same problem that the s4i user had- two posts below.
S4 does not turn on after being disconnected from the computer-
however even though i had used this computer for uploading pics before, it acted like it had nbever seen it before....

have been searching for hours, and cant find firmware for the s4- and any forum that does mention it does so in relation to an a90 error.

I dont have anything on my screen and the lens stays in....
OF course it's urgent- these things never happen when you have time to fix them.
I have fully charged batteries and have tried them both.even changed sd cards.

Any ideas?

When you disconnect something from the PC, I think if you right click its icon in the tray bottom right of the screen you will get the option to stop the device, after which Windows will tell you it is now safe to disconnect it. Perhaps these cameras are sensitive to being disconnected without this procedure being followed. It shouldn't be necessary with a USB device, but who knows...

Thinking laterally, it is much easier and more reliable to use a card reader instead of attaching the camera. They are very low cost and will avoid all the connection problems that seem to occur.

Hope that helps!
Best regards, John
