Optio S4 Housing Replacement? DIY?

I've got a resonably new S4 I imported from Asia. It's been a superb companion on many trips around the world with me and my girlfriend, but on the most recent trip it was dropped and the metal housing has become quite badly scratched. On top of this the screen also has a small scratch in one corner.

Now although none of this is affecting the use of the unit, it has reduced the beauty of the camera somewhat, and as this was a big selling point, we'd like to get it repaired. I've spoken to Harrow Technical and they've quoted me a maximum of £180 if all the panels need replacing, although they need to see it to give me a 'proper quote'. This is a little steep seeing as I can get a whole new unit for £190!

Does anyone know where I can obtain a new housing for the camera so I can fit it myself? I realise that the fitting of a new screen will be a little more difficult so may leave that or get Harrow to do it, but the housing must be fairly easy to replace... mustn't it????

Any info would be gratefully recieved!
Thanks, Darran

I take it then that this is a bit of a mystery for all of you guys as well!

Oh well I guess I'll just have to live with the damage until a decent upgrade comes out...

"I would have got away with it too if it wasn't for those pesky kids!"

This may surprise you, but Pentax UK will supply parts for most current and recent cameras. I have found them very helpful and efficient. For spare parts they tend to email you an exploded diagram so that you can identify what you want.

If you do the repair yourself, you will of course void the warranty.

Good luck.
