You might need to have Windows XP to effectively connect to the Optio, but there is a simpler solution - an inexpensive card reader will enable you to download your pictures quickly and efficiently. Far easier than connecting the camera.

Have you actually tried loading the software? If it works on Win2k and XP, then there would be no need for Pentax to provide additional drivers.
Otherwise, JR's advice is of course entirely right. Using a card reader means you don't use up the camera's battery.
And talking about ancient software - surely that describes Win2K too! XP is a big improvement if you are involved in multimedia.

Several days ago got a New year present - PENTAX OPTIO..... and it does not work with my PC... terrible!
Does anibody know where from can I download the USB Driver for Win 2000 ? It happened that on disk it is still the one for win 1998 - last CENTURY Product ! I can't believe that !!
Such a respectfull name ans such an ANCIENT soft !
