Optio RZ18 remote

Hello everyone, i've just purchased an Optio RZ18 because of the I.R. remote control feature and because it was rather cheap £70(ex demo with 2 year warranty). However the separately purchased JJC RM-E4 which was advertised as compatible for my new camera, simply isn't according to the manufactors manuel & website. Can anyone tell me any remotes which are 100% compatible with my RZ18.

There's 3 cheaper remotes which claim to be compatible, but thats what was said in my first remote purchase.

My wife has an RZ18 and I have a K-r. I purchased a cheap remote on Ebay for £3. Came from China in 10 days and works well with both camera's.

Funnily enough Pentax ones will work perfectly They've used the same protocol for the past twenty years.

I have an RZ18 made for ASDA and called RX18. Never thought of it have remote control, must investigate further.

I assume you have set the camera to use remote and are using it from the front of the camera

It's the only way to take "Selfies"

Yeah, Punkrockemo, i've done that and there's an amber light flashing on the front to indicate i'm on the remote driver setting.
