This is the right section for this, so I'm going to tidy up the other posts to avoid you getting very confused replies over three threads.
It's always much better to only post a subject once as people won't reply more than once to the same question.

It's possible that the circuit board behind the four-way controller has "unseated" itself. It might resolve matters if you try a bit of "percussive maintenance", ie, gently tapping the base of the camera off the heel of your hand in an attempt to reseat the pcb. The alternative is to open the camera up (I'd recommend getting this done professionally) - that said, it may be " beyond economic repair", so maybe you could send the camera to Johnson Photopia (official repairers) for a repair quote, and opt to pay for an upgrade. A repair is generally covered by a six-month warranty, whereas an upgrade will have a full 12-month warranty. Good luck!

My wife has an optio E30 which for some reason the four way controller buttons wont do anything! the camera also seems to be stuck in Program (with 'P' in the left top corner). You can only cycle between full green mode when pushing the green button and then when pressing again it goes to program mode. The centre ok button operate but the arrow four way controller buttons do not...
Can someone advise what might have happened? is it posible something has been locked with inadvertant key presses?
So far I have:
Removed batteries, depressed shutter button and restarted the camera that way.
Reset that camera which shows the firmware version number then boots to camera.
Removed and replaced the SD card.
Pressed a lot of buttons in desperation!!!!
Thanks for your help in advance
