Hi all,

I have recently purchased an OPTIO A10 and wondered if it was possible to display the date on a photograph.

TIA

The date and time you took the picture are embedded along with the image file, but not shown on the picture. The info you want will be revealed when you open it in Photoshop. It will also tell you what shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focal length you used, and more.

Hi John, thanks for the swift reply.

Pardon my ignorance, but if I open the image in Photoshop, are you saying I will then be able to to display the date in a 'saved' copy?

No, just that the information will be shown in a box next to the image. I understand that there are programs available that will imprint the date, but alternatively in Photoshop you could add a date manually by adding Text to the image and then saving it accordingly.

I always have felt that adding a date spoils an image, but I know there are some circumstances where you might well want to do so.

Thanks John.

I agree with you totally regarding displaying the date in the photograph, it was just a request I had had from a friend. I like your idea of 'adding' it using Photoshop; this will solve the problem.

Thanks again.

Derek.

Yeah! it seems like our cameras store more information than a tax return form.

John, what version of photshop is this? I have V.7 can I configure it to display the exif automatically when an image opens or do I still have to go through the menu.
Or did I misunderstand your reply?

In Photoshop 7, go to the top right and click and drag the File browser into the main space. Drag the edges to enlarge it and you can then see thumbnails of whichever folder you are in. Delest the folder you want in the usual Windows way from within this Browser. When you highlight a picture the EXIF information will be bottom left. Sorry, I assumed quite a bit in my first answer!

When you have finished with the Browser, you can close it to avoid taking too much RAM from PS7, but when you want it again go to the top menus and select View>File Browser and it will pop up again where you left it.

I think this is the best way to find picture files in PS7, much better than using File>Open.

Hope that helps!
Best regards, John
