Stick it in a sealed plastic bag with Silica Gel packets.
Hope for the best and check for condensation, and that it works.

Nice nick name...
If you keep dropping the lens a secret and the "gentleman" finds out, it won't just be a nick name...
Suck it up and do whats right.
Of course with the added 10 inches, you could just kick his arse if he comes around asking questions...

The water could possibly leave marks on the glass if any got inside, so I would tell him.
I would think about buying the chap a new (second-hand) lens.

I'm shocked that the question even arises.
Come clean, and at the very least, pay for the lens to be professionally cleaned and serviced. Alternatively, get him a replacement that's at least as good.
Guess which two people on this thread I'll now never lend a lens to, or knowingly buy from.

Indeed.
Replace the lens with a new one and all will be well. Maybe you are even insured so the pain may be reduced.
Does this mean that tall people are not to be trusted?

Well, you know. Its just our nature.
We're all just a bunch of automatrons following Bush's goal for the New World order.

some dude on DPreview asking for recommendations for 'fanny bags' for his DA lenses...
I had to point out the error of his ways and recommended that he checks his local chemist...

May i remind hughjass aka andymac that its my 50mm macro lens he borrowed and the pentax 16-45mm which i borrowed of him is worth more. So if i dont get my lens back in perfect working order i will keep your lens and sell it to the highest bidder.I will then go and buy a fat cigar with the change in the knowing that when i buy a new 50mm lens i will probably still have a couple of hundred left over and all you will have is a broken macro lens ha ha ha
P.S see you at work

After taking some rather splendid shots of flower heads and complete flowers, dripping water and a couple of rather photogenic ladybirds I went and dropped the lens in water. It seems to be OK but my problem is should I tell him or should I just keep quiet and hope he doesnt notice.
I would rather not tell him as he has one of my lenses to borrow and he might seek revenge.
I might add that I am 6ft tall and he is only 5ft 2 or so. If anyone has any sensible advice I would be most thankful
