Get it fixed whilst still under warranty would be my choice.

the rubber padding on the outside should not have anythibg to do with the weather seals. proper weather sealing comes from A)having as few holes as possible in the outer plastic body. and B)putting rubber gaskets in to seal those openings.
a rubber pad, used on the part where you grip it, is cosmetic, not part of any seal...at least thats the way it should be done.
a little corner on my mz5 grip lifted a bit, and stayed that way for years without actually comming right off.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.
