Sorry, does nothing at all for me Walkje, but presumably bringing back good memories?

It looks like an honest photo to me - you could photoshop it to death and give it more impact but whilst it maybe is no stunner I like it for it's honesty but agree with snappy that if you crop the bootm it may improve matters

It's a nice enough photo, but it just doesn't say Yellowstone to me. It could be anywhere.

I agree about the cropping, but don't expect you do. I think some foreground interest (the front shore for instance, or a few trees) would have helped.

That is what I was thinking of doing, but I thought I would see what others thought first.

That is why it was taken, people only think of Yellowstone for geysers, etc..

I understand that John. Yellowstone Lake is overlooked, I agree.
I wish you'd put some foreground into this photo though, just to balance it up some.

Unforunately, there wasn't any foreground where we stopped except for the coach.

Given the location there is an obvious expectation of more spectacular scenery. However, disregarding the location then I think the scene still needs much more to grab the attention. There is no particular foreground interest, the distant mountains are too distant to have much of an impact and the semi-silhouetted vegetation on the promontory is a bit nothingy. These elements just combine to give a rather flat scene. It's in no way a bad image but it just isn't memorable. For that I think a different viewpoint is needed to lead the eye on a journey through the landscape and ideally combined with soemthing special about the light.
