Set up presets for your fave settings. Colour temp / tint / clarity / NR / process version are on mine.
You can download to a main location and a backup at the same time.
Export and all the options are great.
Upscaling works really well - 10MB images printed at A3+....
Where do I stop, I'd absolutely hate to be without it!
Tagging, smart collections, publish to Flickr..
The grad filter and the paintbrush are great.
Basically with a K5 it's hardly worth doing HDR, there's so much in the files that can be recovered.
Needless to say you need to shoot RAW to get the full bang for buck with LR.

Every time you've carefully tweaked an image, save a 'Preset' of the settings - click the + symbol next to where it says 'Presets'. Saves you a job on the next similar image! (edit just noticed I am repeating Paul... sorry)
The presets will have a much more drastic effect on jpeg images...
Other than that I just wing it, and would be as grateful for tips as you!
I wonder if it's possible for users to share their own custom presets? It would be particularly useful for lens correction presets where no 'official' lens correction profile is yet available.

Thanks, I just saved my first preset and you can export them. I suppose you just need to email them or have some kind of file share with the preset on it. Hover over the preset and right click (I've put a 3 button mouse on the iMac as the magic mouse eats all the power).I wonder if it's possible for users to share their own custom presets? I was also thinking about NR and sharpening recipes similar to PS.
Lurking is shirking.!

I have import presets based on body and lens combination.
best advice is lightroom is very logical so in develop mode work your way down the different settings on the right hand side top to bottom

LR really is a great piece of software. Only thing is for anyone contemplating going to LR 4.0 in March this year - LR 4.0 will only run with Windows 7. Adbe say that XP is now old technology, so it will not be supported. Perhaps the same for new versions of Photoshop???

That's worrying, and complete nonsense given that XP is still used more than Win7 by business.LR really is a great piece of software. Another sign, I fear, that Adobe and MS are in cahoots.

It is poor show but I'm not sure how many businesses would use Lightroom? It's not suitable for a multi user environment so at best it's limited use for medium / large companies and it's my perception that photographers tend to update their PC hardware fairly regularly - I've not evidence of that but that's how it seems reading various forums ...
