Olympic Park

As promised, some snaps from the family visit to the Olympic Park last Friday (we got tickets for the basketball). Just an amazing place and an amazing atmosphere - I'm so glad my wife's enthusiasm trumped my jaded cynicism and we went. We walked in to the park just as the roar from the stadium went up when Jess Ennis nailed the hurdles at the beginning of the Heptathlon, and I've never heard anything like it.

As you'd expect the park has huge potential photography wise, and I'd love to see what some of the folk here with 'the eye' (DrOrloff, Opethian, AxelLuther etc etc) would come up with. And people watchers (Smeggy!) would be in their element

Anyways...

Stadium - stitch of a set taken with the 15mm.. but (unintentionally) came out fishy-ish

Aquatics Centre - Looks ugly at the moment because of temporary stands, but when they take these down and the main curves of the underlying design show properly it will be fantastic

The velodrome is stunning - most impressive building on the park

The Basketball Arena is going to be dismantled and shipped off to Rio for 2016

Some very nice architectural touches around the park generally. These mirror panels were under a bridge - and great fun. And no, it's not me with the camera.. but my family are here

Good idea to dismantle and use elsewhere if we have no use for them.

Fabulous set. If I were to pick out some favourites they would be the three starting with the close up of the rings

Love the third of the basketball arena, with the "meringue" effect. I tried to take something similar myself and failed, too many rivets!
