I have aquired a Vivitar75-205, 3.8-22 close focusing auto zoom.
It needs a bit of a clean, some dust inside front glass.
Any one know much about this one ( it's a big heavy lump!)
Is it worth getting it stripped and cleaned?, If so, any idea who / where? how much?
Thanks Folks.
Best Regards, Larry.

Nah!.. It's a cheap and lousy lens. Worth ten quid, tops. Certainly not worth getting professionally cleaned. A few specks of dust behind the front element are not going to degrade image quality, anyway. If it bothers you, you can try and remove the front finishing ring, remove the front element, then give it a clean yourself.

You might also be able to blast the dust out with a can of compressed air ("Air duster") without dismantling anything.

One touch or two touch? Do you have the 2x converter. This lens may surprise you.

I do have a 2X's converter.
What do you mean by one touch or two? It does have two focusing rings, is that what you refer to?

I think by 'one touch' it has a barrel that's a combined zoom and focus adjuster. i.e rotate to focus and pull in and out to zoom.

Yep, that's the definition I've always understood. The majority of genuine Pentax manual zooms are "one touch" designs, there were a few oddballs like the M 40-80mm which are two touch (one ring to zoom, another to focus). From the F series onwards they switched over to two touch designs.

Personally I prefer the two touch as they're less prone to zoom creep. It gets a bit annoying when the lens first pulls the camera nose-down and then slowly extends itself to hit anything you brush past!

Ahh! No, it's not the pull out type.
