ok BUTTON ON k10d

I expect that I should be able to get this from the manual but I can't find it.

I use the multiple focus areas so I can have it AF to the right say rather than the centre. I can do that fine but on my K100D I could press the OK button and it would instantly revert to centre point - can you do the same on the K10D (which SRS have just supplied at an excellent price - forget eBay!).

I think you can set the AF button on the back of the camera to do this.

Hmm the manual offers the choice of AF button causes AF to find focus
Or press AF to stop half press of shutter release to cause AF to find focus.

So that doesn't look probable. This is a nuisnace as I use this function a lot and have the habit of always recentering the focus point as I stop shooting.

I have also just tried it which seemed to make sense and no joy.

You need to set it up in the custom menu first, then it will work.

OK I'll look again, I thought I'd found the relevant bit.

You can make the AF button center the focus point. Look in the Custom menu.

Have you got the latest firmware installed?

I don't remember for this one, but some features were not present in the original firmware.

Ah that will be it I bet this is the early firmware.

That'll also be why it's not in the manual. They don't get updated (online PDF's) to reflect any capabilities made available by firmware changes.
