Dragged myself in to work this morning to find an envelope on the desk.

Opened it with trepidation, and no not the P45, but bonus and pay rise time!

Well in response to the great coverage the lens has had in these forums I went and bought the DA 16-45 (from Park Cameras), and holy zarquon singing fish what a lens!

I was simply knocked out by how bright the view through the viewfinder was, using this lens. I think I'm going to enjoy this one!

I don't know what "stonking" means, but it's got a fine sound to it.

I've bought the 50-200, but apparently there's a high demand in the US so I'm back-ordered.

Next will be for sure the 16-45. Still scraping up the $400+. Oh, yes. If it's so bright, what's the maximum aperture?

It's a constant F4 throughout the zoom range so it'll look pretty bright compared to the 18-55. It'll look rather less bright if you're used to primes or F2.8 zooms.

Hope the sun keeps shining, till 6.00pm at least, there is a 12-24 and 16-45 sitting in a package waiting for daddy to come home

Gave the new lenses a run tonight. it got a bit gloomy late on but I think I'm going to like these.......a lot.......

Thay are a bit good, aren't they. My 12-24 hasn't arrived yet but should be soon.

The only trouble with the 12-24 was that I just had to upgrade most of my filters Went for the Lee Foundation with a 77mm wide angle adapter, and Cokin Z-Pro ND grads. Wow! What a great piece of gear. Absolutely no vignetting, even with all 3 filter holders in place
Now all I've got to do is get out more

Where did you pick up the protective filter for this lens (I'm on the verge of getting it, slowly tipping over the verge...) and how much would I expect to pay the filter. In another post you mention PTLens for correcting perspectives. Is it very time consuming to learn/do? I may use it on some interiors pretty soon, how long did it take to arrive and have you shot some interiors with it yet? Thanks for any info and hope you're still loving it.

I don't know PTlens, but in you can correct perspective manually in GIMP, with the perspective tool. In PS6, you use a function of the crop toolbar to alter perspective. Both work in the same way, by giving you tags in the corners to drag the image out until the lines are to your liking. Remember though that if you pull the sides of a building too straight, it may make the image look un-natural.. as you can see in the real world, there is always an element of perspective as you move further away from the object.. especially with big stuff like buildings.

No problem, I honestly didn't think I had it, found it when I was searching for the 18-35mm box, best to keep these things together.

I went for the Lee foundation kit as well and a selection of adaptor rings from 49mm to 77mm. I looked at the Cokin filters but decided to get the Lee soft ND grad set (still to come).....no excuses now.
BTW...I took some photos in the garden before I went walkabout yesterday with the 16-45, have you had any problems with RED things...like the tulips in this pic, they look horrible....guidance accepted.
