#5 - oooh very clever Mike

We see 4 rumps and then realise that there are actually 5 deer in the pic - very clever

Seriously though, a good set - the antlers are beautifully caught - lovely texture there.

How close were you to them ?

No.6 is the cream of the bunch. An excellent capture.

A fab set, and I agree no. 6 is lovely.

These are all rather splendid - my pick is number 5, with all the antlers lined up - top notch. It's a great time of year I reckon to get pics of these animals.

Fantastic set Mike. You say they were handheld so I'm interested in what focal lengths and shutter speeds you used. Presumably they were high shutter speeds which suggests high ISO levels. The K5 is good at high ISO performance.

Thanks David .. settings are as follows.

The Sigma teleconverters don't report the extra focal length or change in aperture on Pentax (Unlike Canon and Nikon) so you have to double the focal length and aperture listed below. I also have to use a bit of exposure compensation as it tends to overexpose due to the TC.

When I shoot this combination I always use TAv mode, set the shutter speed to 1/500, the aperture to f5.6 and let the K-5 take care of the ISO.

Yes it is designed to work with certain Sigma (non HSM)lenses such as the 70-200mm f2.8/100-300mm f4/180mm f3.5 macro and a few others.

I really like 5 and 6. Impressive results for a zoom with a 2x converter. I've been toying with the idea of getting a converter for my Tokina 80-400, but I don't think the IQ or speed of the lens is good enough.
