Officially K-3?

Hmm the focus button doesnt look so joysticky on that photo, im guessing its just a button to turn the 4 way buttons into focus select mode which is a little more intuitive.

K5ii no, K5 mk1 owners probably if AF and video matters, K7 owners definitely. Not sure about K30 owners like myself. It's certainly nice that there are good upgrade options!

I normally find that the people that moan about the K-5 AF just don't know how to use the camera properly. All you have to do is pre-focus on the area where you think the fast jet will be.

I am still happy with my *istDs (bought second hand in 2005 - cycled way past the 100.000 shutter releases [I don't know precisely - it only counts to 9999, then starts over!]); update now is probably about time - though I think I'll get enough 'newness' with a second hand k-5 / ii / iis should one come around at an opportune time in my price bracket. I mainly use completely manual prime lenses anyway - so the increased autofocus points themselves aren't that much of a push; and the rest seems more in the realm of nice little refinements that would be cool to have, but not necessarily essential.

I've been using a K-5IIs all year, 58,000+ shutter actuations. I've been building up a wish list based on problems I've had, things that would increase the number of keepers, etc. (The K-5IIs was a welcome improvement on the K-5, which itself was a nice camera).

The K-3 leaked specifications exceed pretty well all parts of my wish list. If they are accurate, (and since they are typically in the form of screen shots I'm pretty confident they are), I'll buy this camera as soon as possible after I've confirmed them, perhaps Wednesday.

OK, so my wish for switching between 10 fps and 5 fps isn't met, but realistically it was never going to be! But switching between 8.3 fps and 4.5 fps is close enough for a while.

Having just bought a second-hand GX-20, I'll not be shelling out on a K3, although it does look nice. I'm honest enough with myself to know that the current limitation on my photography is not my camera, but my photographic skills. I need to work on those, then maybe pick up a nice second-hand K3 in a couple of years' time..

Well all the wildlife photographers moan about it including me. I think it is really about being focused on one thing, something appears somewhere else (often in the sky) and by the time the AF has done a bit of searching and hunting it's gone!

As a K-7 owner, who bought the K-7 when the K-5 came out and knowing that computers/electronic goods always depreciate:

mike, not sure if the focus has really been nailed there with your fast jet action shot ......you may find you'd really benefit from the new safox and tracking system on the k3.

To be honest i was looking to walk away from Pentax the last few weeks and moving away to a full frame system, i still may yet. The pricing of the k-3 needs to be competitive for me to buy it still. It has all the features i need except full frame. Believe it or not the reason for me staying with pentax is the -3ev focus system which i will have to pay through the nose to get in a full frame system.
