Hi!
I don't see this advert, but I can understand it might make people uncomfortable and I agree, this kind of adverts aren't a credit to this site.

Link to the offending site removed. If the advert offends, then not linking to it seems best.
Adverts are provided by Google and PU has no input. The type of advert shown does vary depending on the users web history, so not everyone will see the same ones. That's how I understand it anyway.
Most forums carry these adverts and it keeps the content free for all of us.

I haven't seen any Wonga adverts on here.
Whilst an APR of 2869% sounds horrendous, they do explain very well why the number is so huge. Admittedly, it is to convince Joe Public that the number isn't really huge and they should go ahead and borrow the money anyway.
I'm not recommending them either as I feel anybody who has to use these kind of loan options needs serious help other than simply borrowing money.
Borrowing money to fix a shortage of cash only succeeds in generating a bigger shortage of cash. Simple as, really.
As John has said, the adverts you see are often based on an individuals web searching history, but you can opt-out of their intelligence gathering antics if you wish.
If you haven't been searching for a loan, perhaps somebody else who uses your computer and login, has.
As for unwanted adverts, Adblocker works for me. I just wish there was something similar for TV.

Thanks John for acting so swiftly on this matter.

At the risk of sounding like I'm supporting this company (which I'm not) surely it's better for people to go through a legitimate company than borrow from an illegal loan shark.
There are many things I object to. On the page as I type there is an advert for a charity which supports the promotion of religion to the third world, which I strongly object to.
But the point is, I'm not paying anything for this website so unless all users are prepared to pay a subscription the adverts will remain.

Perhas I was too quick to judge. Wonga indeed is better than a loanshark as Wonga primarily seems to give short time loans and thus the debt won't get very high if you can pay back in a shortish time. Though this kind of money borrowing being too easy and fast can make money problems worse.

Maybe some people shouldn't be so quick to complain. Whenever I open this site, I get ads for toilets. Makes me wonder if I'm looking at a sh!tty website.

Yes, it seems I belong to one of the lucky ones because I see ads of a phone company, photography related ads, a pizza ad (Papa John's:lol and also a charity related ad (this one actually makes me bit sad every time I see it). But I wish you and the rest of who get 'bad ads' better luck in the near future.

The way Google Ads works is very clever. Not only is it based on Geography and browsing history but even time of day. Therefore you are more likely to see an advert for Wonga during the day than the evening.
If anyone has ever watched TV on a workday, every ad is for 'Debt Consolidation' or 'Get money by pretending you've been injured'. It's an assumption that anyone who is on line isn't at work and therefore needs money badly.

I liked the good old days when you went to the bank for a loan and they asked what it was for and how much deposit you were contributing yourself, very rarely would they lend the entire amount of the purchase.
Nowadays they just seem to want to give it to you even if you dont need it "Dear valued customer, we have increased your credit card limit to £10,000" despite the face mine has never gone above a fraction of that amount.

I personally am offended by having loan sharks being advertised here - their APRs can be 3000% and more, their site quotes "Typical 2689% APR".
I am not recommending them in any way and would certainly tell people to avoid them.
Can the site owners please consider asking for this type of advert to be deemed unacceptable.
