Is there a switch to turn the mirror flappy thingy sound off then?

There is a shutter, just like a film camera, right behind the mirror flappy thingy.

wow awesome photo

Peter, why don't you just tape that mirror flappy thing down, it won't make any noise anymore if you do that.

Do I stick the tape to the top or bottom side of the mirror?

Would you recommend wearing gloves to avoid damaging the mirror?

Well actually thats not quite true, the mirror flappy thing is a noise in its own right, and it can be turned off.....you just have to avoid pressing the shutter

There is an electronic noise generated to simulate what would have been a shutter firing if the camera had one, if you dont believe me put it on self timer with 2sec delay , you hear the mirror lock up then you hear a "simulated" shutter firing noise

if you turn the camera off and press the shutter release you won't hear the mirror flappy thingy, does this solve the problem?

NO! why would you want to turn off a noise that Pentax developers have spent hours getting to sound just right and does it really matter as we cant turn off the noise of the mirror flappy thingymawotsits.

The shutter noise could theoretically be turned off but this would require several screwdrivers and somthing to short out the noise generator circiuts, and of course you'd have to take care to avoid the plasma conduits and make sure the Dilithium matrix remained undisturbed or you could cause flappy feedback to the dormant GPS distributor hub, and if you disturb that your thingymawotsits will go limp and you'll be in real trouble

If a tree falls in the forest with no one there to here it does it still make a noise?

If a man walks into the middle of a forest where no woman can hear him is he still wrong?
