Off camera flash

Does anyone use an off camera flash set up with their digital camera?

I used to use the AF280T with the AF400T Hot shoe grip and mounting bracket.

As the Pin contacts are not compatible with the digital cameras, who uses an off camera flash and what set up is needed if using the newer Pentax flash guns?

I use Cactus V4 triggers with both Yongnuo-YN560 and Vivitar-285hv flashes...

Both my flashes are manual only (no P-TTL) but when using flash off-camera you're likely to be running whatever flash you own in manual mode anyway...

The Cactus triggers only have a central firing pin so can be used with pretty much any flash ever made (excluding Sony, who use a mental backwards hotshoe design)

i use the AF400t all the time with digital cameras what is theroblem you are having, the pins are all in the right place except you don't have the one for the digital protocol

Ken as I have said I want to use a new Pentax flash gun, I already have an AF280T with the AF400T bracket and Hotshoe grip an connecting cable, I looking for a similar set up using a Pentax Digital flash gun possibly with a connecting cable or going wireless!

I posted a set up ages ago but cant find it at the moment. It consists of the hotshoe grip you have (I'm assuming its the Pentax one) hacked by drilling a little hole in the shoe to stop the digital pin shorting out.

It is this thread: link

As Ken says, the Hot Shoe Grip can be easily hacked such that modern P-TTL flashes work fine. I regularly use a K5 + Hot shoe Grip + AF540FGZ + Hot shoe adapter F + Synch cord F 5P with no issues, apart from the weight.

It's about the same as using your AF400T, but much better.
