Just came across this from the "other" Pentex site

IMHO just an amazing image, just wait for it to fully load up (goes into colour and then sharpens up)

Its the Beijing Olympics Stadium: about 30 min. before Men's 100m Final.
360 degree view from the photographers' stand, you can use your mouse to turn the picture to different angles.

Yeah, see the guy at the bottom with the goofy face? Look up and to the right over his left shoulder. The poor guy with his head down and empty monopod. Burst rate too slow, no adequate lenses, and the damn shutter is too noisy! He just put is equipment away.

Just move the mouse down a bit and you actually see the fancy lens thingy that took the shot, even read the description of it around the edge.

Holy COW!

Now I'm really impressed! It's a completely spherical shot?

Going to their site now.

Thanks for showing this to me, and explaining.

Just think about that for a second...

How many photos can you think of where you can see the front of the lens from the outside...?

It's been done with stitched photos - look at the lens of the guy pulling a face in the seat behind the photographer. Not much ghosting evident, but there is some, especially if you look at the roof, several lines don't quite match up.

The image directly down is just something to fill the space where the photographers legs would appear, as well as a nice bit of advertising.

Fantastic shot though, and some excellent software to stitch all that together.
