Not a Problem Anywhere

Sue and I were in London today, armed with cameras and in quite a few places.

It was interesting that nowhere was there the slightest hint of any of the problems photographers have been facing. Were we lucky or has there been a backing away from challenging photographers?

No images yet, but we have been on the go since 04:45 and only got home at 23:00, so I think it can wait for tomorrow!
Best regards, John

I don't think you were lucky, I went down to london last November and took lots of photos in "secure" areas and nobody approached me. I think it is more to do with your attitude when you are taking the photos!

That is good to know John, and to be honest doesn't really surprise me. I work in London and see photographers all the time around stations and prominent buildings, they don't asppear to be hassled.

Even during the G10 demonstrations earlier this year I took lots of photographs of policemen (and women) and they didn't seem to mind at all.

Back I May I went to Paris for a short photographic trip. On the way, waiting for, I took photos in St Pancras without any bother.

Which is what I've been saying all along

Never had any troubles, even shooting around an Army Barracks...

Was that intentional John? probably not best to let that be heard in earshot of the police

Daresay it was ok today because they were all resting up after a lively night at Upton Park

Cheers

I think the cases we all read about in AP and the like are a rare occurence, but there certainly has been a push to educate officers with regard to the law around photographers. The Police don't like bad PR, at the end of the day, and dislike needlessly negative contact with the public.

To be fair, I don't think the problem has ever been mainly with warranted Police Officers, but rather over enthusiastic PCSO's and other local government/council 'officials'.

As above though, it's always best to have a positive attitude in these situations, and all should be fine.
