Nice shots David!,especially No1!......I can see strange marks on the sky!...is this from the processing?.

I like them all David, but number 1 keeps drawing me back. What a good place to shoot, and what a good job you made of it, thanks for sharing.

Very nice, David. I do like to see modern architecture shots. The monochrome ones have real strength and depth.

A nice series David, I prefer the two B&W images mainly because I feel the composition is stronger. The first image is my favourite due to the inclusion of the curved railings that flows in sympathy with the roof,and the sky's position gives balance to the whole image.

My K5 does have black spot disease but only slight. The splodgyness in the skie is something I get when converting deep blue sky into mono. It used to happen with the K10 as well. I'm sure the computer wizards know how to overcome this in photoshop but not me.

1 & 2 are my favourite - lovely shots.
I know PSE and LR have a spot removal tool, so fair chance it's in PS also. The LR3 version is very easy to use, so hopefully the PS version is likewise!
While doing BW conversions, you can sometimes run into a solid colour that needs adjusting, like the sky in No 2. It looks as if one of the colours has been pulled too far back in either saturation or luminance. A quick adjust of each colour in turn will identify the culprit, because the mottle will disappear.
I did that to the forehead of a gentleman at a wedding in 2007. It happened to be the father of the bride...

I shall revisit the mono version with the botchy sky. I did the mono conversion from colour in PS and the sky in the colour versionn was cleaner. I should have done it straight from the RAW image. Thanks for your suggestion i-Berg, that's something I'll try.

I think the "blotchiness" is still there on colour shots but the human eye must be better at seperating slight variations of tone when looking at colours, when we turn those colours into shades of grey those slight variations in tone start to look the same.

Three from yesterday's shoot with the K5+Sigma 10-20mm lens in and around Newcastle. Northumbria University's City East Campus is a delight for photographers. The graphic lines lend themselves to black and white photography but I've included one fully saturated to show what it looks like in colour.
