Noise from camera k5 IIs

I purchased a K5IIs earlier in the year, and love the camera. Haviing said that I do not consider myself an expert.

Recently the camera on occasions is noiser that normal, almost as if the mirror is returning slowly after the shutter is released, 2-3 seconds after taking the picture, however nothing is visable in the viewfinder so guess not the mirror, the pictures are ok so not sure what could be making the noise. it comes and goes.

Any reason for concern, should I return the camera to Petax?

Were they longer than normal exposures? Could you post any shots associated with the odd behaviour? (It's the exif data they contain that's of interest; not the subjects so much).

Normal exposure, seems to be worse when the camera has not been used for a couple of days - sorry didn't save any specific shots - will use the camera over the weekend and see if it happens - have tried varying aperture and shutter speed but could not " turn on/off" the problem - thought it may be the aperture in lens returning to fully open, but again nothing visible in viewfinder - lens pentax 18 - 250
Have a prime lens as well but don't like swopping lenses as I always seem to end up with dust on the sensor (K20D)

Dust is something that happens. Don't not change your lenses in fear of dust, just change the way you do it. DSLRs are designed for lens changing.

If you don't change lenses you're not getting the best from your DSLR(s)- sell them and buy a good 'bridge' camera.

I always make sure I'm in an environment where there's no 'active' dust, (as dust free as possible, no wind, no loose surfaces), then point the camera down as I release the lens, and keep it facing down as I fit the next lens.

I have a K20D and a K5II, and can't say dust has ever been an issue and I change lenses all the time wherever I am.

Hi - started off life many years go with Practica, a SLR and then with a various bridge cameras (Canon) but prefer the optical viewfinder and light ability and the pictures of a DSLR. Kept the K20D for the prime less _ guess I'm a little paranoid about dust - every time i changed the lens on the K20D - picture of blue sky and examine every pixel my son has a Canon he never had a problem until we checked, it still doesn't bother him.
Told the latest camera is better but have not tried it yet.

To be honest I am very happy with the camera, retiring soon so it will be an importan part of my after work activities - just a little concerned when it started intermittently making more noise than normal , like a mirror or shutter problem as the mirror returned or as I origanally posted what seemed like a few seconds later. Played with the camera this morning all normal -problem was first noticed in Prague in the middle of a hot day a month ago then 10 shots later it disappeared returns ocasionally and then dissappears.

Were you using 'Live View' at all when you noticed the noises were different?

I use it very rarely, but when I have there are different sounds from the camera as the mirror lifts when you switch to live view, and then again when you press the shutter as the mirror shuts, then the camera takes the picture, and then opens again for the live view. It threw me initially, so wonder if this is possibly what you had too? :
