You could always set yourself a real challenge and take only the 40mm .

Looking at last years photos - lovely place btw- I think the two widest lenses are the way to go. The only one which would benefit from more zoom is the donkeys.

well - the P70 is pretty wide too

The 40mm is one I do intend to use a lot - I love the lens

I suspect a trial pack will have to be done before I finally decide what's coming - but the pantechnicon is staying at home

It's not just the cameras and lenses - it's the other little bits that I need - batteries [ K-x and flash ] Charger - for the P70 , cards - got plenty of those Polarising filters - got them OK for the 18-55 and the 40mm , lens cloths etc etc - these are the things that kind of mount up - and if I forget anything that my companion thinks I should have brought with me - I'll be in BIG trouble .

This thread has just been read by my companion and the comment was

Take only the 40mm and your companion cannot possibly complain. Well except that you can't get a wide angle view of that building, or a close up of that donkey on the other side of the field, but apart from that what's to complain about?

Maybe this is the perfect excuse to buy the rest of the DA limited lenses?

I've been told it's my gear and I have to carry it . This is lesson #1 in planning a shoot - choose your own gear and carry it yourself - or so I was told about 5 mins ago

I get told I have to carry my own gear too - and often end up lugging his as it's more convenient to bung his camera in my rucksack - according to him anyway.

Mind you I would trust him with it anyway .

Choosing what to take is always a nightmare - and you only have three lenses to choose from .

Going by car I just take everything, but flying or by public transport is pure torture for me - I can't decide what to take, and always find out I have the wrong lenses with me when I get there.

You might have Stefan - but at my advanced age all I have to look forward to is the Government telling me that I can't have any pension increase - and in fact somehow they have managed to grab more tax off me so my income has gone down

That's indeed not good and also with the measurements the government is about to made with the crises
Hopefully you can still come round nicely and have some to spare to do fun things with.

We have yet to get a government here after the elections in June, but I bet they will be grabbing more off us all too. It is always jam tomorrow in this country, and as we all know tomorrow never comes. We are getting increasingly concerned about our financial future, especially with the housing market as it is right now.

In the past I've travelled with the 18-55/50-200 combo and found it fine.

Now, though I use an 18-250!

Thanks HG - yes the 40 is certainly going I love it. When this darn weather sorts itself out I intend to go for a walk with the 40mm Nice and discreet

Snag is that I really can only manage one other lens with me - and I'm dithering as to which I'll take . I like the thought of the wider angle with the 18-55 - but can I do without the 55-200 part ?

You wouldn't care to lend me your 18- 250 would you ?

Today it's fine though the sky is not great - but I can't get out - waiting for folk to come between 10am and 3pm
