New wedding Pics

Hi everyone

Here is a link to my latest wedding shoot took 3 weeks ago.

All taken with the K10D + 18-55 kit and 50 mm Prime

Complete rubbish. OK, now dry your eyes . Very good, much better than I was expecting. Some gloriously saturated colours and I loved the depth of field obtained with that prime lens. And such a pleasure to see monochrome in a proper setting. Over all, very nice work.

For heavens sake, people, can't we just lay off the "I hate flash and music" now?

I hate the flash and music too, but Pete loves them both, and for all I know or care, so do his customers.

I thought there were some good shots, and some awful ones, but I really don't think Pete cares about our views of his photography any more, if he ever did.

In fact, I'd hazard a guess that his reasons for posting here now have a lot more in common with Ben Kanarek's, from whom Pete may have learned a little about self-publicity.

And good luck to him.

Chris I would be interested to know which ones you think are really bad so I can review them ?

Well the ones that stood out to me as bad, had distracting backgrounds, as I recall. There was a very prominent Y-shaped tree behind the girl in one, and one had the bloke snogging the bride with a tree-trunk growing out of his head.

There were also quite a few blown highlights in the dresses. Tricky to get right, but important I guess.

I did also need several Pro-Plus tablets to stay awake while the photos faded in and out, but we've been there many times before, so I won't say more about that.

Overall, I was somehow left with the impression of general cheesiness, but that's just me - if your clients like it, my opinion is of no consequence, as I've said before.

Great achievement though, Enrique Iglesias as a client.

It's doing people a favour to warn them!

Anyone who hasn't visited the site yet, make sure you have a sick bag standing by in case you don't manage to find your mute button quickly enough.

The photos I think are good, commercially, though a few could be improved by cropping some space off the top.

Those are terrific, you've come a long way since you first joined this forum and I'd sincerely like to think that some of MY input has shaped your photography along the way.

PS; I also dislike the music and I'm not going to insert a smiley cos' i'm deadly serious.

Chris I will be looking at the images you have mentioned and others as I want to try and narrow my portfolio down to the best I have so far. Thanks for your advice. Some of the blown out highlight etc.. is what I wanted to acheive as I try to get a bit creative similar to using high key etc.. I take your point about the tree trunk Ill try to clone it out. The fade in and out can be altered so Ill have a look at various speeds but to fast may not look right.

Hi Gatemore (sorry dont know your real name) The music can be switched off pressing the speaker symbol. A box pops up and then you just press the pause or stop button. Unfortunatley it is the sites design so there is no other way.

As for the music well this debate goes on I think it really depends on your website market. Most brides to be are quite emotional about their wedding and photos etc.. especially the mums . The music is there to try to create and add to the emotion. When we go to the movies its the music that creates the emotion to sceen being viewed. When I do a proof DVD I always put ballard music as it nearly always brings a tear or two in a nice way.
I want my sight to create a little imotion and could not imagine it with nickleback music

I would say 95% of wedding websites have music. It may not be everyones taste but you can switch it off.

Pete,
were you the number one photographer on the day, or backup? The subjects are clearly not looking at your camera in so many of the shots, it looks as if their attention is elsewhere.

Good pics though, and I agree about the 'Y' shaped tree.

One question Pete - on the About Me page on your website, are you the one in the dress or the balding one?

I know from all this that if I continue I am liable to be assaulted, visually and probably aurally.

To protect my sanity, I keep my speakers turned off by default. I don't need other people to decide what music I should listen to, and I'm old enough to be happy with silence.

But as Chris has said, Pete no doubt knows his market, and I'm sure his site works for its target audience.

Pete i enjoyed your gallery, Not so much the wedding photography (not my thing i guess, but some nice shots nonetheless) But i did enjoy your family and Landscape shots. Some nice contenders for this weeks comp in there

Like George i leave my speakers off by default, So the music doesn't bother me.

Chris you were saying you didn't like the way the pics faded in and out during the slide show I just kept clicking the NEXT button and Machine gunned right through them

On this particular wedding I was the main photographer. I took some of the shots where they are not looking at me direct when they were posing for other people

On some of the other weddings I was second photgrapher to the main guy
