Impressive photography well displayed on your new website. I agree with the comments about the text colour. It may visually suit some of the gloomy interiors, but it doesn't fulfil the primary requirement of any text: to be easily read.
Your captions are rather too economical, perhaps. I'd be interested in more detail, at a minimum identifying the places you've photographed.
Nass's points about improving the site's 'findability' are all good.
Btw I'm not sure what a 'classic English castle' is, but I'm doubtful your castle, in the 'Historic' section, is one. It may have started out as an approximation to one, but it's been extensively remodelled and 'improved'.
These are all nitpicks compared to your primary achievement. Thanks for sharing.

Some great pics. Although many are too HDR for me and I find that distracting
The colour of the text on the "blog" and "about" pages aren't difficult to read. What makes it difficult to read is the format. There's no blank line between paragraphs
My main gripe is that intuitively I'm clicking on each photo to see a decent sized version pop up but can't. Very disappointing especially given the quality of the pics - I notice you can do this on the blog page though

I think I have worked out how to get around this issue. It will take a while to implement. I too would like to be able to click and enlarge them.

The juddering is kind of normal, I've seen this across many sites. Bottom line is that some browsers just don't do scrolling as smoothly as others, and some hardware does it unsmoothly. I personally try to keep image file sizes down as that seems to help but your mileage may vary.
It's a good photography portfolio and nice clean brochure, looks like squarespace does a good package. It may get a little lost on the internet though and you may struggle for visitor without a lot of constant promotion (which I take it this post is part of) because there's very little text for search engines to hook onto. Fwiw, I get about 250 different visitors a day to my site, largely because it is deliberately word heavy and so performs very well in Google.
The topnav greys are a bit dark but not the end of the earth, I can still read it. That said the about page is very hard to read, as is the blog. I did expect to be able to click on images and see a bigger lightbox version but it's not set up that way.
With websites, it's always useful to keep a goal in the back of your head. If it is for exposure and marketing, then you'll want to add content that attracts people, like 'how I did it' for every photo and maybe a romancart ecommerce link to finished mounted prints.
Thanks for the comment. Driving traffic to the site is partly sorted as I have a a good sized audience on the FB page but I would like to know more about the site description wording on the config options. I have put a couple of paragraphs about the page but if I can add things that make it more searchable then please tell me what to do.The juddering is kind of normal, I've seen this across many sites. Today I got 700+ views and near 200 unique visitors, but it's early days so I'm guessing this should grow in time. Exciting times and it's all new to me!

Hi Matt
I am very impressed with both the website and the quality of the work presented on it. Superb stuff.
I had no 'juddering' or any other issues, I suspect this is as much down to the internet connection and the PC being used to view the website as it is to anything else.
Best wishes
David
