Just noticed this on the forum

"The newest registered user is cialisvsviagra".

The phrase "yeah, right" comes to mind. I'd like to see the size of his lens. Moderators, do we need a new tool to block spammers?

Tim,
AFAIK, there are tools to block automated spammers. However, the process is as follows:

* New user drops spam
* One of the moderators (John Riley or me) makes a note and deletes the offending entry
* Every week (ish) we inform the admin team and they ban the users.

I agree it's a complete pain, but I think generally it is under control. Now, both John and I are very regular visitors, so they normally get zapped within 24hours. If not, just be patient... we're pretty good at spotting spam now

Matt,

I'm not familiar with the software that runs the forum - I didn't know if it allowed you to enable captcha's when people try and sign up .

Tim,
That's enabled. You can't do it automatically. However, there still seem to be enough people around who will sit there and spam away

Hells Teeth! If people have that much time to waste, there's a pile of ironing in the corner of the room I can point them at!
