New to this

Ok Iv got a Pentax k10d with a tamron 18-250 lens, what do u all think of a few shots I took? Tell the truth and let me know how I can improve

There all soft mate. And maybe your focus is off slightly. Some sharpening applied in PP would help. Or stopping down the lens may help also, say around F8. Most lens's are soft when they're wide open, ie at the lowest possible F number. And don't be afraid to 2nd guess auto focus.

I love my K10 to bits. When I got mine I got a sigma 28-300 and took it any and everywhere with me

I think the reason for the 'softness' is possibly that you are using the wrong lens for the job. The 18-250 is not cut out for this type of work and is more of a general walkabout lens. You need a macro lens for this type of work. Maybe you could post some more general shots taken with this combination?

That is what I thought I just didn't know how to over come it, I had it on manual focus I found it a little easier, I haven't edit any of my pics yet i wanna learn to take good pictures before I do that

There r a few random shots, like I said I'm really new to this, I don't know what I'm doing I'm just trying to teach myslef so any help it's appreciated how to get over stuff is good to

And I know it's not the right lens but I was thinking of getting a better lens for the job and I got told to wait and have a little play first ... That was the result

I like the strawberry drop shot , why not try a tight crop of it ? keep it up it's fun isn't it .... jeff.... oh and I'd crop out the guy in" horses"

Sensible. However, after you have resized them it would really help if you sharpened them slightly. Resizing softens the image, and is probably the real reason people are commenting that the pictures aren't sharp!

I'd get to grip's with what you have before spending any money mate. I have no doubt what you have is capable of producing better results, you just need more shutter time.

The strawberry shot is cool, a tighter crop and some sharpening and it would be a cracker Mate

Are you shooting raw or jpg? what software do you have?

I don't have any at the mo, what would u recommend me getting? And jpg at the minute but when I start to edit I will probably go to raw

'Faststone image viewer' is a great start for software, it does everything you're likely to need for now....and it's FREE!

I'm a fan of adobe's offering but the cost is way to much for a beginner in my humble opinion.



Seems like a good place to start to me, as is the stuff pentax include with the camera, silkypix based stuff I believe.

Cool I will have a look Iv been looking at photoshope elements 10 but my opinion was the same as ur and though I better wait for now coz editing is a skill of its own so I though I better aim for good shots first
