New Sigma 120-400 OS dated

The new OS HSM variant will be available in Pentax fit from the 21st of May (Sigma aren't known for long lead times ) - we're actually getting something a week BEFORE Sony users (what's the collective term for them? ala Canonites and Nikonians). Main difference (apart from the OS, obviously!) is that the old version didn't have HSM in Pentax mount IIRC (because it dated from the days when Pentax still had SDM-incapable bodies).

Suggested retail price is a rather specific £766.30

It will be interesting to see what price the lens settles at.

The older lens is from 2008 around the time when Pentax launched the K20D & K200D so Pentax didn't had a camera on the market that didn't support SDM.

Will there also be a new version of the 150-500?

I think there is an OS version of either that or the 50-500 coming. I'm 90% sure it's the 50-500 actually.

As far as bodies, although the then-current models supported SDM most Pentaxians were still on K100Ds and earlier (plus K10Ds which initially didn't support SDM either). So they would have shut off a lot of their (already small compared to Cansonikon) market by making it HSM back then.

Their website shows new versions of the 150-500 and bigma, both with HSM and OS in Pentax fit.

They seem to be working through their range making this the case for all their lenses.

That's great news, I was already think of getting the 100-300 instead because it had HSM meaning you've the same feature as quick-shift and that's important to me.

Yeah I forgot that they didn't had a dual focus system like the DA*50-135 for example.

That's because Sigma build their HSM motors to last more than a year

you sure?
There aren't many lenses with HSM for Pentax that's one reason we don't hear much about it on this forum.
I've no idea how it is on Canon or Nikon forums.

Just looked at the Sigma Web site and the Bigma does show HSM and OS for Pentax Mount. Even going on to say that AF will not work with none SDM pentax bodies. So you could say it is already there.

I am more interested in Sigma making the 120-300 F2.8 for Pentax. Now THAT would be a great (albeit expensive) lens to have.
