Not necessarily, it could just be easier to mould in separate pieces, or made like that to allow access to the 'penta'viewfinder, Dan. It would be a one-piece construction otherwise.
As for separate flash triggers, George, I seldom use flash anyway!
So it wouldn't bother me to use a separate unit, I'm probably not alone with this either.

Well, the new Pentax distributor has hinted of a new unannounced DSLR to us Singapore Pentaxians, but did not say what it would be...
It has got us guessing also.

I'm thinking that LCD screens are getting good enough to replace other viewing methodsI would say - no EVF, just LCD. This is what most digicam users expect to happen, and allows you to zoom for manual focus (I've even managed manual focus on the K20D live view when zoomed :shock.
I could see that an LCD-only dSLR could be made to work... ok it's not the same as pentaprism, but I could see a market

But what happen when the sunlight hits it on a so perfect that you don't see a thing, als no viewfinder would mean you would need to use the camera at arm length to look at the screen. Point and shoots are light so not much of a problem but try to keep an DLSR still at arm-lenght

If EVF's are going to replace optical viewfinders then they would have to get the resolution of the LCD screens a lot higher to be able to use manual focus.

If LCD would provide only information and not the view itself that would be great, no more switching those matt screen to get a rules of third and what to think of adaptive information. I'm expecting a hybrid evf/pentraprism where a Mattescreen gets replaced/overlayed with an lcd (possibly transparent) display for eyelevel viewing, and an lcd on the back of the camera as well.... and eventually evf viewers replacing pentaprisms altoghether

The biggest problem at the moment is the lag, you get seasick if you look through it too long and move alot @Don

How does any 1 know its a pentax i have my money on it being a new samsung model ? any thoughts

In 1957 Asahi introduced their first SLR with a Pentaprism and it was called the Asahi Pentax. Before that the name Pentax was not in use by the Asahi Optical Company.
Pentax isn't the inventor of the Pentaprism viewfinder, it is Contax. They introduced the Contax S in 1949.
On some markets their cameras were called Pentacon which was derived from PENTAprism and CONtax.

Pentax was the first Japanese camera manufacturer to use a pentaprism. Before, they had SLR 35mm. cameras with waistfinder.

After all we used to use cameras with separate flashes so why not now. As long as a hot shoe is fitted and software is available a flash on the hot shoe could still be used as a trigger.
Or maybe wireless flash set ups without the on camera slave!
