Yves that's old news and fake
The obvious one is that it can't be a DFA without an aperture ring.

Still think it's a joke though...
Maybe that will be my new lens instead of a seizz...

Certainly looks like an impressive bit of kit, kind of a revamped DFA-100 f/2.8 Macro wearing a nice new set of clothes.
Wonder if they have made any improvements optically?

Looks like a stretch DA35.

Doesn't seem they have done anything to the lens formula besides a new coating and rounded diaphragm blades.

Well, it does look official now with an official press release and is apparently shipping in January for $849 US. Guessing that means £1,000!

Interesting tidbits:-

Quote:
The PENTAX-D FA MACRO 100mmF2.8 WR is the first PENTAX interchangeable macro lens featuring a completely rounded diaphragm blade. This creates a natural, beautiful bokeh, while minimizing the streaking effect of point light sources.
Sounds good!

Quote:
This macro lens features a simplified weather-resistant construction, which minimizes the intrusion of water and moisture into the lens barrel. By mounting the lens on a PENTAX weather-resistant digital SLR camera body, the user is assured of greater durability and reliability when shooting in rain or mist, as well as at locations subject to a spray or splash.
Sounds not as good as the sealing on DA*s though

Yes the WR version of the 18-55 that I have doesn't have the feel or build of a DA* but it's definitely a step up for the standard 18-55 MKII, sort of a half way house between the two I would say.

I imagine the aperture ring has been dropped due to the added complexity of sealing it - shame! No mention of AF so I assume it's screw-driven like the Limiteds.

Very nice; but as the weight and size savings over the current model are negligible, and the optical formula the same, I won't be upgrading just yet...

Think I agree with beginner, why did we just not get a DA* 100mm Macro?

Bit of a guess but I think Pentax have taken the view to minimise development cost with this lens, it looks like (a very nice) cosmetic make over of the existing DFA 100. Loose the aperture ring and engineer in WR and a few other small tweaks.
