The Sigma lenses listed focus down to 20cm, except for the 24-70mm which only manages 40cm. None of them are true macro lenses.
You could also consider the Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 and Pentax 16-45mm F4 if you could live with minimum focus of 27 or 28 cm.

It's a big, big lens, and it turns into a 36-105 (Equiv FOV) on the K10D...
Did I tell you it's a BIG lens?
Nice tho'

I've heard the Tamron 28-75 F/2.8 is very good
its max magnification is 1:3.9, 33cm at 75mm

smaller than the Sigma 24-70 as well.

I have the Sigma 18-55mm f/2.8 - Sigma quote a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3, and a minimum focusing distance of 20cm. The magnification ratio sounds about right, but it'll focus closer than 20cm - there have been occasions when I've had to remove the lens hood in order to focus at the closest focusing distance.

Don't forget focus distance is measured from the sensor, not the front of the lens. Even so, this does sound as though it focuses within the specified range.

Blimey, my lens has lost 5mm! Perhaps I should take it back to the shop - I'm sure it was an 18-55 when I bought it!!No, that is the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 EX DC, just to avoid confusion!

I would also like Macro capability on it - any ideas?
I was thinking of something like:
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG MACRO
Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro / HSM
Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC Macro / HSM
Are there any others I should look at?
Has anybody got any comments on these?
Thanks for your time
