New Da*200 has dust. What should I do?
Actually I am a little surprised that nobody has said that dust in a lens is nothing to worry about and that all new lenses have dust because that has been the response on other forums.
On returning home I tried the lens and nothing happened. I pressed the shutter button and the lens did not respond. Unbelievable I thought. So to check it was not the camera body I tried my 43ltd screw drive. That worked. When I replaced the da*200 on the camera it started working again. I hope fingers crossed that it was just a bit of dirt on the contacts! I will give it a thorough test tomorrow afternoon.
So I went to the nearest used camera shop to see what they would give me. He looked through the lens at a light and then printed out an estimate. To my shock the rating was not A excellent but AB. It is new I protested only 5 days old to which he replied it has a lot of dust.
I think we would all probably be surprised if we made a habit of shining torches into our supposedly 'dust free' lenses. I bought one (s/h) from the US forum - the seller had posted a picture using torch light through the lens, and it looked like you could grow potatoes in there. In reality, I can't see anything at all when I look through it at a bright light such as the sky, and if it's having an effect on IQ I can't see it.

Slightly off topic i took a brand new unopened computer which I received as an insurance claim to CEX. The box was still sealed And the guy in CEX opened the box checked it worked and booted it up for the first time. He then offered me the price based on a B rated laptop, so i said why is it not A rated and he told me it was now an opened box laptop and so could not offer the A rated price
Regarding the topic, I guess it all comes down to what will give you the piece of mind to continue on. No one should go through what you are experiencing right now. I hope it gets resolved.

Blimey what kind of shop is this? I would return for a full refund and buy from elsewhere...
When in Tokyo, I have my favourite and customer service is excellent.
