hi guys was considering the cashback purchase of a k5
but I have not received the cashback due on my Nov 2nd 2009 purchase of my K7

The original cashback site no longer exists. That site for many weeks stated that my application was approved.

Cant find any telephone number that deals with previous cashback and have called the telephone number on pentax.co.uk and the number that deals with the current cashback offer with no luck

Its dissapointing as I have used pentax for many years

If anyone out there is considering the new cashback deal I would recommend a rethink

Anyone have any ideas

cheers gerry(doorman)

I think you need to contact Pentax with all the relevant details. Cashback does work, but there's always the potential for it to go wrong in individual cases.

The K-7 cashback was a Europe wide deal, organised by Pentax Europe and outsourced to an agency, which, I think, was overwhelmed.
The current offer is a UK one (plus a couple of other EU countries) but is not as big a thing as last time.

I would write to Pentax UK stating all the details about your previous application and ask for help.

Personally I would have got on to this a lot sooner - like shortly after the cashback offer ended to find out where my money was. A year on makes it harder to deal with it I suspect.

Please don't let your previous experience put you off buying the K-5 - which is a fantastic camera.

Surely you have followed this up before now :

The old cashback was slow but you are the first person that I have heard of, who never received anything.

As Gwyn says, that cashback was outsourced to a company with almost zero staff and not a clue about the idea of customer service.

The cashback before that was handled from Pentax in Slough by someone whose biro ran out frequently, resulting in the slow arrival of cheques.

One would hope that Pentax has learnt some lessons by now

thanks for all replies

and yes I made efforts to contact pentax over the months.Three calls to europe all unsuccessful and the last one for 52 minutes waiting for an an english speaker.

A letter to the pentax address in london, the address mentioned in the cashback literature.

returned unopened office disappeared.

yes I would like to write to pentax uk but can see no address anywhere. Two telephone calls to numbers mentioned in the current cashback literature, first to technical support obviously wrong asking for any contact numbers.

second to current cashback telephone number again obviously wrong and in both instances no help forthcoming.

Pehaps I should have started sooner but my application was approved and they returned my Jacobs digital K7 receipt as I had requested(Is my guarantee)

I have little faith in Pentax cashback schemes .If I pursue the idea of a k5 purchase I shall wait till the price drops to current k7 level which occurred in only 1 year

again thanks for you replies
