I would suggest you handle all the options and that should help you decide what works for you.
There are also plenty of places to buy, although personally I use SRS as much as possible. Good, friendly service, good prices and fast as well.

Hello and welcome here.
SRS have proved themselves to be very reliable and you would get a two year guarantee.
The K-5 handles much more like one of the old film SLRs in that it is well built, lighter, smaller than the Canikon options plus it is weather sealed. If you want a large heavy DSLR then the K-5 isn't it! I'm sure if you handle one you will feel how well built the K-5 is.
Something must have made you lean towards a K-5, tell us your concerns and we'll agree or disagree

Never heard of SRS - had to Google - I assume it's SRS microsystems!! Price is the same as Clifton C. I would really value opinions of what lens option I should chose. I want to start with the best general use camera to develop and learn digital photography.
To respond to your replies - which I am grateful ... I have researched the market and the Pentax seems the best functionally, has a good build quality, and the K5 competes with the semi-pro dslr's of Canon and Nikon. On a personal note - Clifton offer a 0% 12 month payment plan option which would mean such a purchase would fall under my wife's finacial radar!

Rex, if you have ever visited Christopher Wren's tomb in St Pauls, you will have read the words: "If you would seek his monument, look around you".
On a slightly more modest scale, if you would seek SRS, look around this page. You'll see their ad. somewhere.
But Clifton are also a Pentax Pro Centre, and it sounds as though they are offering a good deal.
Unless you have any specific requirements, then simply take the "kit" lens, which is amongst the best of its kind. I refer to the SMC Pentax DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR, to give it its full name. This will allow you to tackle anything from buildings to portraits. Note that WR stands for water-resistant, so you can do portraits in the rain. If you want to. Pentax think of everything.
For not a lot more, you can usually add the 50-200mm telephoto zoom, which will give you more reach. When photographing bulls, a telephoto lens is much to be preferred over a wide-angle.

SRS Microsystems is an excellent company if you choose to buy from them - I bought my camera from them and they are a great in all aspects, fast delivery and prompt replies if you email them.
There is the classifieds here too, I think there is a used K-5 up for sale at the moment.

I bought my K-5 from Clifton Cameras this week after asking for advice about upgrading to this camera on the forum earlier in the week. Ordered it thursday 2pm and it was with me by 9am yesterday (friday).
They were very helpful when I rang them. My camera also came with a 2 year warrantee.

When I got my K5 I went for the 18-135 kit lens as I was about to go on holiday and didn't want the hassel of a new camera and changing lenses all the time. I think I made the right choice. I subsequently purchased a DA 35mm 2.4AL second hand off the forum which gave me a nice small lens when I just wanted something smallish to carry. I've also recently bought a £25 old manual lens which is the nice benefit of buying Pentax.
