Well its all plumbed in and running away nicely. I went with novastor for backing up stuff, a trial was included and it did all I could ask for so I bought a 5 licence deal for £13, that covers my laptops and the kids android tablets as well. I'm well pleased with it, and for £300 it seems like a bargain for the peace of mind it gives.

Hi Peter.
That's odd - lots of discussions and comparisons on the web, most say that GigE should be faster or at least the same as USB2. Can't find anyone who says it should be significantly slower, and mine certainly isn't. YMMV (and indeed clearly does).

Of course, actual speed across a network will only be as fast as the slowest link in the chain..
