Negs or Photo's

I'd set my d-slr up on a tripod/copystand, and photograph each photo, then box up the originals for proper storage.
between my Pentax camera, Aperture and digital storage. Apertures faces feature works well BTW I got a huge archive from Gerri's dad for Christmas and it took Aperture 3 (Iphoto works just as well) one night to identify with great accuracy all the people in the photos. I clicked on Gerri (we won't mention how old she is) and Aperture successfully identified her in old yellowed photos right down to when she was four years old. Only a couple instances where it identified her (more recent photos) as her Mother... Picked my boy out from 6 months to six years, no mistakes.
A couple archival photo albums...
a few binders with archival neg sleeves...
some cardboard boxes...
you'll have it sorted properly over a weekend.

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Indeed. I would trust film far more than any modern digital methods.

I'm going through just such an exercise right now, except I'm scanning my slides & negatives.
After they're scanned, they're binned.
I've got room in my cupboards for loads of other junk now.
PS: I have 4 separate copies of my pictures & videos, one copy is about 15 miles away from my house. Only an earthquake, war, or similar disaster will destroy all of them. If that happens, I won't be in any position to care.
I'm happy using just one medium, digital, of which I can make as many copies as I like/need and there won't be any arguments as to who gets what after I'm gone.
