I have a whole range to choose from

A two year old can easily push both sides of the clip... especially if they get a bit bored!!

Another vote for optech.

The interchangeable ends are really handy as you can buy them separately and they are available in a range of styles to fit different body loops/links/attachment points. That way you can leave the ends on different bodies or larger lenses and swap the shoulder bits around as and when needed.

Would love to see one with steal wire to help eliminate cut-and-run thefts, but other than that, its great.
To paraphrase a long-forgotten post I read on some other camera forum, the last thing you want is someone who has a knife between your camera strap and your person having trouble cutting the camera strap. Even if you don't suffer injury as a result, surely "I have a knife, give me your camera" is an entirely adequate substitute (from their point of view) in the event they cannot cut through the strap?

On the same note, many of these 'addon' straps have "quick release" clasps, in which case the would-be thief need not have a knife at all to be able to snatch your camera in an instant.

Both my Sunsnipers are steel wired. The intent is to stop the strap being cut whilst in a crowd or whilst your jammed up in a front row with other togs and some one tries to cut the strap and make off whilst your pinned in.

No quick release connectors are used on Sunsnipers.

As you say, in another situation, things could be different.

Since buying them, they have transformed how I use my cameras. Fast up to the eye is an understatement.

Hi all

I got my seamstress wife to take apart the standard straps and replace the webbing with longer straps. I also got her to make cushion sleeves to go over the wider part of the PENTAX strap. This way I can comfortably carry my K20 & K5 on each shoulder. Materials cost: $10 Canadian.

Not that this helps, or is really relevant, but I ditched my neck strap a couple of years ago. I just couldn't get on with it because I didn't feel that my camera was safe by my side (or front, depending on configuration). I also found the strap just got in the way, particularly when shooting portrait. So now I lug the camera around in my hand and let the children hang onto my neck. There's a smallish bag on a strap for those moments when I really have to put the camera down, and to provide spare lenses etc.

Initially I was worried about dropping it (K10D + DA*50-135 is the default setup) and bought one of those hand-grip things. Used it once or twice and now it sits in my large camera bag that I use for storing stuff.

But you now owe her far more than the actual physical cost - payback can be a bitch !

+1 (well +2 actually).

I bought one of these, and then the dual version too. However I wasn't that happy with the dual version (unbalanced when one camera goes back in the bag and less flexibility) so I bought another single and now where both singles which gives me flexibility to pop one back in the bag without affecting the balance.

I reckon we could all send our original straps to Mrs. terrytootall. After all, ten bucks plus postage sounds like a great deal to me. What do you think, Terry??

I recently bought Micnova MQ - NS2 neckstrap with connecting clips. It is very comfortable and long enough to carry the camera comfortly over the shoulder. I was just constantly feeling insecure with those clips when I was carrying K-5 with grip, flashgun and sigma 70-200, so I superglued them together. I know it's unlikely to brake, but I don't use the clips anyway so no harm done.
