Very freaky How big were these things? The DOF is very good.

Gareth your lawn must me really something if you stoop to prune it rather than run a mower over it as I do!
Good sharp shots, though. (Isn't the light good, stong and even?)

In English Huge! but really about an inch, I still feel a sore spot, they must be like our stinging tree (true) and leave hairs in the skin.

Good pictures Don,
I love seeing all these coloured caterpillars.
A quick bit of web search and I found this Which prolaims it to be a Cup Moth Larva.
Not poisenous, but you may want to take the day off just in case
